The Journey

Only delicacies and scenery cannot be let down. This 5-day foodie pilgrimage takes you from Kunming's Zhuanxin Market street stalls to Nanhua's wild mushroom hotpot, from Xizhou's "fire-roasted pork" challenge to a private Bai Tusi Banquet in a century-old mansion. Eat like a local, learn to cook like one too.

DAY1

Kunming — Market Street Food & Mushroom Welcome

Arrive in Kunming. Your foodie guide takes you straight to Zhuanxin Market — not just a market, but a museum of Yunnan ingredients. Taste Douhua Rice Noodles, Sweet Fermented Rice, and dozens of snacks you've never heard of. Evening: a wild mushroom hotpot dinner featuring Lanmaoa asiatica, dry beef mushrooms, and termite mushrooms — the most luxurious welcome imaginable.

DAY2

Chuxiong Mushroom Center & Dali by Erhai

Drive to Chuxiong — the wild mushroom trading capital of Yunnan. Visit the distribution center and learn how top-grade fungi are graded and priced. Continue to Dali and check into a lakeside boutique hotel with Erhai views. Dinner: authentic Bai-style sour and spicy fish, caught fresh from the lake that afternoon.

DAY3

Xizhou Snacks & Bai Tusi Banquet

Morning: stroll through Dali Ancient Town's morning market. Travel to Xizhou — taste the famous crispy Baba and challenge yourself with grilled Rushan (milk fan). Afternoon: Zhoucheng village for a Bai tie-dye workshop, then the grand finale — a private Bai Tusi Banquet in a 100-year-old courtyard mansion, featuring dishes never served in restaurants. "Sour, spicy, fresh" at its extreme.

DAY4

Mountain Vegetarian & Cooking Class

Morning: hike to Jizhao Nunnery on Cangshan Mountain — reputedly China's most beautiful nunnery — for a vegetarian lunch that will change how you think about meatless food. Afternoon: cafe-hopping on Renmin Road (craft beer, single-origin coffee), then a private cooking class with a local chef. Learn the seasoning logic of Yunnan cuisine and cook a dish to take home.

DAY5

Cross-Bridge Noodles Ceremony & Departure

Drive back to Kunming. The farewell meal: a full ceremonial Cross-Bridge Rice Noodle experience — not the quick version, but the real ritual with 20+ ingredients arriving in sequence. Understand the legend behind this 200-year-old dish. Afternoon airport transfer. Return home with the taste of Yunnan still on your tongue.
